Puppy Grooming & Academy

We believe every pup deserves the best start in life – and that includes their grooming journey! Our Puppy Grooming Academy introduces your little one to the salon in a kind and calm way, helping them feel comfortable with the sights, sounds, and sensations of grooming. Early positive experiences build confidence and ensure future grooms are stress-free and happy.

Our Puppy AcademySessions

Session 1 (30 minutes) – Meet, Treat & Play!

Your puppy will spend time bonding with us through cuddles, treats, and play. We gently introduce them to the grooming table, helping them get used to being handled around their feet and face. This fun session sets the foundation for a positive salon experience.
(Includes a Puppy Welcome Gift)

Session 2 (45 minutes) – Play & Trim

We continue to build trust while introducing light grooming. Your pup may have a gentle trim around their eyes and bum, plus nail clipping and exposure to the feel of trimmers on their feet. This helps them become confident with scissors and combs.

Session 3 (1 hr 30 minutes) – Gentle Bath & Trim

This is your pup’s first bath with us! We go at a gentle pace, slowly desensitising them to water, dryers, and new sounds. With snuggles and reassurance, we make bath time fun. A light trim follows to keep them neat and tidy.

Session 4 (2 hours) – Full Groom

Your puppy’s first full groom! We’ll bathe, dry, and introduce clippers if they’re ready. Everything is done slowly and calmly to make sure your pup feels happy and secure. After this session, your puppy will have graduated the Puppy Academy and be ready for regular full grooms every 6–8 weeks.

Puppy GroomingPreparation & Tips

Preparing Your Puppy for Grooming at Home

You can help your puppy feel even more confident by practicing at home:

  • Handle paws and legs gently so they get used to nail trims and brushing.

  • Hold their chin softly to prepare them for face and eye care.

  • Touch ears, tail, and body so they’re comfortable being handled all over.

  • Keep sessions short and calm to build trust.

  • Use praise, treats, and patience as positive reinforcement.

  • Gently introduce brushes and combs so they see them as positive.

  • Be consistent – little and often is the key to building confidence.

Why Puppies Shouldn’t Be Clipped Too Early

  • A full clip too soon can be overwhelming and frightening.

  • Early stress may cause fear or anxiety about grooming later in life.

  • Gentle introduction builds confidence and trust.

  • Positive early experiences = stress-free grooming for life.

Starting From 12 Weeks

  • Your puppy can begin salon introductions from 12 weeks old.

  • Early introductions prevent fear and stress later in life.

  • Short, gentle sessions help pups get used to sounds, handling, and equipment.

  • Builds positive associations so they enjoy visiting the salon.

  • Teaches tolerance for brushing, bathing, nail clipping, and drying.

  • Makes future full grooms easier, safer, and more comfortable.
